I’m a writer and journalist from Texas living in Brooklyn. My writing on books, art, and culture has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, NPR, Literary Hub, Texas Highways, The Art Newspaper, HuffPost, and Narratively.
I spent three and a half years as a reporter and digital editor at KUT, the NPR station in Austin, Texas. I reported on the state’s abortion ban, COVID-19 health disparities, and overlooked history. I was on the editing desk for breaking news events like Texas’ 2021 winter storm and blackout, 2020’s racial justice protests, and the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. I also produced podcast episodes for ATXplained and Growth Machine, and I told a story about Austin’s oldest Christmas bar live on stage at The Paramount.
I write personal essays on things like beauty culture and books. I have a Substack called “Everything Can’t Be Everything.”
I’m also an experienced researcher and fact-checker. Ahead of the 2024 election, I was on PolitiFact’s TikTok moderation team, researching videos flagged for misinformation.
